v11-problem: unZip => "no sub-folders"

Post by *janla »

Hi,

I am writing, because with your v11 & v11.01 - I have discovered, that when unzipping (dragging-n-dropping) files - the subfolders are NOT re-generated.

for-instance - a zip-file, packed with 2 more folder-levels - will become "all files in the folder, that I unpack to".
And, the subfolders will be lost.

I have searched for a setting within v11/11.01, to re-implement the subfolder-setting, to no avail.

My solution, for now:
I rolled-back to v10 - which works ... v10 re-genererated the subfolders, and restored the file-structure, as expected.
So - in my case, it is a "thing", that is introduced with v11 (or: after v10).

This is actually an option in the dialog box which appears each time you unpack files. You must have deleted your old settings file (wincmd.ini) because unpacking with subfolders is the default.

It is right there when you drag-and-drop - see: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/unpackdraganddrop.png

This was a new-installment ... on a 100% new windows10-64 system (and a new SSD).
So, no "old" wincmd.ini file etc.

I returned to v10, where subfolders are reflected during unpacking, as usual.
And, I hoped, that the introduced bug would be fized in v11.02.

That's an old menu/popup.

The new (v11.00/01) has more options - and unfortunately non, that could make this work ... I have of-course tried to solve it, before posting.
[actually, it seems, that the bug is caused by an speed-improved & redesigned zip-packer/unpacker - which is cool, it just does not regenerate the subfolder-structure]

It isn't an old menu/popup and v11 doesn't have more options in the unpack selected file(s) dialog or the unpack files from archive dialog.

Furthermore, I cannot reproduce the behavior you get. Do you get that behavior with any zip file or one particular zip file? And can you provide step-by-step instructions so we can try to reproduce your issue?

Not confirmed
Drag and Drop brings the option "Unpack path names if stored with files"
The same happens if Alt-F6 is used.

As white also writes - it is NOT and old popup.

And it works as it has for years in TC 11.x too - see: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/dragdirfromzip.mp4

thanks for returning.
- for now, I am using TC v10, that works for me. I will install v11 on a secondary machine - so that while testing and corresponding further, I will not loose the subfolder unzip-functionality again.

It's a pity but You still did not proof your words with some video showing your current state.
+ your ini file.
So obviously author will not fix/change anything. Even IF when suddenly THERE IS the needs for this.
