QuickLook with Total Commander - autoload selected file

Post by *athelas »

Hi,

I am really enjoying using QuickLook in Windows and I have managed to integrate it into Total Commander (thanks to posts on this forum), so that pressing space bar opens QuickLook with currently highlighted file ❤️. However, after that navigating to a different file (like pressing Up or Down arrow) does not update the QuickLook contents, I must press space bar again in order to do that.
In Windows Explorer the QuickLook content is updated automatically with the currently highlighted file, no repeated pressing of space bar required.

Can this be achieved in Total Commander too?

Thank you very much!

In short no.
This is a function of QuickLook itself.

Personally, I don't see a need at all for QuickLook in TC.
There are much better Lister plugins available, for almost all file formats.
Even the Explorer previewers are available in TC, and their quality is much better than Quicklook.
Windows 11 Home, Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3915)
TC 11.55 RC1 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1391a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.5.2.0, Listary Pro 6.3.2.88
QAP 11.6.4.2.1 x64

Thanks for the info. I will take your guidance, I haven't had much luck with the Lister plugins and feels very difficult to weed-out ancient plugins from the currently useful version. Could you hint me where to start?
Thanks!

I have about 20 Lister plugins.

A good start would be the following plugins:
PDF, EPUB: SLister or SumatraPDF
Images: Imagine or IrfanView
Source Code: CudaLister
Almost any formats: ULister (Oracle Viewers)

If you say what formats are important for you, I can be more specific.

Obviously it depends on the kind of files you want to be displayed. Simple text files and images can be shown with TC's internal viewer, but its capabilities are pretty limited.

Thanks Horst,

I mainly work with PDFs, XML, HTML/CSS, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and then heavily with DNG, NEF {Nikon RAW files|, JPEG, PNG and then vector files SVG, EPS, WMF, AI.
But the main are PDF, XML, DOCX, NEF, JPEG/PNG and SVG.

Will give your recommendations a try :-)
