Gray is a neutral color, the issue with it is to find the right tone to use. Too light may not be visible, too dark may look like black. Could it perhaps have a transparency so that the original icon is visible (a little, about 80%) under it? Also, the bars should definitely have borders in a negative color, as they have now (yellow with blue border).

I don't use the "Small icons" option. With icon size 24, the dropdown toolbar arrow looks microscopic. If the pause is the same, it's not suitable at all. Have you looked at the listed examples?

What size do you use in the field "Size" in Configuration - Button bar? If you set this to 25 or more, you will get a larger overlay even if the icon size is 24 or smaller.
I don't understand what you mean with listed examples.

24. There was no overlay anywhere for many years of use.
What the round pause icon looks like in the corner of each of the icons.

Well, they don't look bad but they are rather small. I would vote mostly for #2. It might look better though if they were a little larger, cover the bottom-right quadrant of the icon.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2023-10-27, 07:53 UTC What do you think about my icon overlay suggestions here:

Those don't look bad either, mostly the green one on the printer icon but in the bottom-right corner... The last ones are also nice, i like the shadow but the red does not look nice.Fla$her wrote: 2023-10-27, 10:26 UTCWhat the round pause icon looks like in the corner of each of the icons.

I tried other colors, they don't fit well here and are not so well emphasized by the shadow.
Yellow shades are not suitable at all because of folders, blue or gray - because of the background, light green doesn't contrast clearly enough, dark orange and red remain.

Hmmm, maybe dark orange would be better. Anyway, ideas for Christian to play with...
