[bug report] File comments

Post by *poiuytr »

When I tried to add/edit a file comment to a file/directory in a "file comments mode" (ctrl+shift+f2) it (the comment:-) does not appears even I reread the drive (f2/ctrl+r)!
I need to reenter this dir to see the changes I made. Is this a bug?
(I'm really sorry for my english)

How did you add the comment? TC caches the comments of a dir, so it doesn't notice external changes to the comment.

ctrl+z

The situation i described occures only when hidden files are invisible (cm_SwitchHidSys) and only for "not first" comment. I mean when i add first comment it appears correctly but second, third and so on comments are invisible until i reenter the dir (in ctrl+shift+f2 mode).

OK, this doesn't sound right. I will try to reproduce it.

I experience a similar bug (v 5.51). When I use "Edit comment" while in "Show comments" mode, the new comment is not shown in the listing unless I change to a different dir and then return, or change the custom filter. Note that the flyover "hint" for the filename *does* change as soon as the comment is edited, so there's no question of TC not being "aware" of the change. Note also that my experience is different than poiuytr's report, in that toggling away from and then back to comment view does not cause the comments to display.

Yes, this is a bug - I didn't notice it because I have hidden/system files turned on all the time. I will correct it in TC 6.0.

I also have hidden/system files turned on all the time.

But in this case I had a custom filter *.XXX turned on, so that descript.ion was not listed in the window, which causes the same bug.

This insight leads to a workaround: change my custom filter to include *.ion.

Thanks,
Jonathan

This bug is still present in 6.3a:
If hidden and system files are not visible (cm_SwitchHidSys) and the panel is in Show/Comments state:
I edit a file comment with Ctrl-Z, the changes are not shown, even after pressing Ctrl-R. Only switching to Brief or Full view, and switch back to Comment view helps.

For the current beta:
Hidden & system Files hidden
- With files.bbs:
add the comment
valid (F2)
->The comment appears (and also the file "files.bbs)

- With Descript.ion:
add the comment
valid (F2)
->The comment does NOT appears
Press TAB twice
->The comment appears (and the file descript.ion does not appear (hide))

All that while in Comment View...

2SanskriFritz
How can it be easier than now ?
No need to refresh, just move the cursor (down/up arrow or mouse)...
