Hello Total Commander Community,
I am a long-time user of Total Commander and I have always appreciated the flexibility and power of this tool, especially the ability to map keys to input commands. However, I have recently encountered a limitation that I hope can be addressed.
Currently, I am trying to map the "/" key to activate the Quick Search function. Unfortunately, it seems that Total Commander does not support mapping a single key as a hotkey. I have tried to do so, but it does not seem to take effect. On the other hand, mapping combinations like Shift+; (colon key) or Shift+/ (question mark key) works perfectly fine.
If single key mapping was supported, it would greatly enhance the usability of Total Commander for me. For instance, I could map keys like j, k, h, l for directory navigation, which would make my workflow much more efficient.
I understand that there might be technical limitations or design considerations behind this. However, I believe that the ability to map single keys as hotkeys would be a valuable addition to Total Commander's feature set. It would provide users with even more customization options and improve the overall user experience.
I would love to hear if anyone has found a workaround for this issue or if there are plans to implement this feature in future updates. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Xavier Wang

I can use the single key "/" mapping for Quick Search via the "OEM_US/?" Key, and I can also remap the J key to "cm_EditPath" or "cm_DirectoryHistory".

That is not correct.xavier83 wrote:Unfortunately, it seems that Total Commander does not support mapping a single key as a hotkey. I have tried to do so, but it does not seem to take effect.
If I assign / to a command it works for the / on the numeric keypad
If I assign OEM_US/ to a command then it works for the last key before the right side Shift-key, but ONLY if I have enabled English keyboard layout.
With Danish keyboard layout I can also type a / with Shift+7 (7 at the top row of the Main keypad), but this will not activate the command assigned to neither / nor OEM_US/
