Lister issue with M4a and Mp3
Need your help,
I am using the Lister Function with the mmedia plugin to listen to Songs (both mp3 and m4a) but many times the media won't play. Before they would play (nothing has changed in my config only using the RC)
When I disable the MMedia plugin TC will play the Mp3 but not the M4A.
When I open the file in Foobar or iTunes they play normally.
What can I check/do?
TiA for any advice you can give me.
Ps: Yes I know the mmedia plugin is OLD but it used to work up till recently (Ps: using 11.02 RC5)
Edit: I checked the files for errors and even removed the Tags but same issue
Edit2: I updated the LavFilters and now M4A is playing via Internal Player (not via MMedia)
Link to the Lavfilters: https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases
Edit 3: Problem solved, but in whole Honesty I do like the MMedia "player" because it shows the Tags etc etc and (maybe I missing something) it doesn't quite after a song has finished

Re: Lister issue with M4a and Mp3
The old internal player had problems with tracks containing large album art images, maybe that's the problem with MMedia too?

If you want to play M4A files with the MMedia plugin, you need to add the M4A extension to detect string in MMEDIA.INI file in the plugin directory.
Just add "m4a" at the end of MMEXT key line e.g.
Just add "m4a" at the end of MMEXT key line e.g.
Code: Select all
[ext]
MMEXT=mpe,mpg,m1v,mpeg,wma,wmv,avi,aiff,wav,au,snd,aifc,rmi,midi,mid,cda,wvx,wax,asf,asx,vob,ifo,dat,flv,mkv,mov,mp4,mts,ts,webm,m4a
Re: Lister issue with M4a and Mp3
Thx but I tried that by removing all id3tags in the file and it still wouldn't play, but I have found the solution by updating the LavFilters now the Internal Player handles it all well.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2023-11-05, 11:52 UTC The old internal player had problems with tracks containing large album art images, maybe that's the problem with MMedia too?
Edit: Could I maybe ask for a "enhancement" of the Internal Player?
When playing a song to display the Internal id3Tags of the File?

Note that M4A files can contains various audio codecs e.g. AAC or ALAC. I'm not sure whether the latter is fully supported with LAV Splitter.

At the moment all the M4A files I throw at it

I will check which codec they use and report back
Edit: This one plays both in the Internal Player and MMplayer
