Maybe the hacker was just a very anxious TC user... One who couldn't bear a delay for the next release...

If he really was, then poor guy, I can even understand his anxiety :) ...

(although this wouldn't ever justify his actions, though)

A Beta version is useful to get a first impression how the functionality fits to the users needs and works stable in real life environment.

But a Public Beta gives a lot more valuable results due to various environments, which prevents a new quick-fix-version shortly after the main release.

I don't bother about some minor, well known bugs. As every Beta version should not (or with caution only) be used in a productive environment ...

... and a Public Beta version will work fine even with an english UI only ... just to use the spare time after christmas :)
