I have set folder icons, and they are shown in Explorer and TC x86 / x64.
Maybe your method isn't independent of the bitness.
Windows 11 Home, Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3915)
TC 11.55 RC1 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1391a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.5.2.0, Listary Pro 6.3.2.88
QAP 11.6.4.2.1 x64

Try switching to the view mode manually by right clicking on the tab title.

Please show the value of the corresponding key _rules in the [ViewModeSwitch] section.

To me it looks like you are showing screenshots of setting folder Tab icons - that will not change the folder icons in the file panels.

You need to set an alternative IconLib in the [Configuration] section of your wincmd.ini file, and to disable the setting "Icons" -> "Show default folder/file icons from Explorer".

Check if you have an IconLib=filename.icl line in your wincmd.ini for your 64bit TC and copy it to the wincmd.ini of your 32bit TC (remember also to copy the file to 32bit TC's program folder).

He has a combined TC.
Where does he write that, and if he did, how could he have the problem, when they use the same .ini file?

Anyway to me the issue is whether jesped is trying to set Folder Tab icons (as the screenshot of the "View Modes" dialog indicates), or is he trying to set the file panel folder icons, as the different colors for folder icons in the file panels (blue and yellow) indicates between the different screenshots and the red arrow between a yellow and a blue icon shows in https://i.postimg.cc/Dyw4fLGN/image.png

I think it is the second because none of the screenshots show any folder Tabs.

Also jesped must already be using an IconLib= setting in one or both or the TC's since the file panel folder icons are different in his two TC's - One of them could use Explorer icons if he is using Windows 11, I don't know how they look.

I was wrong pointing to the TC folder icon option, which is for the tabs.

Yes, I am using the combined TC 32/64.

I am using a custom folder icon using this .reg file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons]
"29"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,55,00,73,00,65,00,72,00,73,00,5c,00,6a,00,65,00,\
73,00,75,00,73,00,5c,00,44,00,6f,00,63,00,75,00,6d,00,65,00,6e,00,74,00,73,\
00,5c,00,49,00,63,00,6f,00,6e,00,73,00,5c,00,62,00,6c,00,61,00,6e,00,6b,00,\
2e,00,69,00,63,00,6f,00,00,00
"3"="c:\\Users\\jesus\\Documents\\Icons\\Blue Folder.ico"
"4"="c:\\Users\\jesus\\Documents\\Icons\\Blue Folder.ico,0"
"28"="c:\\Users\\jesus\\Documents\\Icons\\blank.ico"

and that works both in Explorer

and TC64, so it should work also in TC32, which is the same installation and is using the same .ini, right?

Nope. You changed the icon only for 64-bit programs. 32-bit programs read information from HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node because they get redirected (but that's another topic). You will get the same behavior in other programs like Explorer++ which is also available in 32- and 64-bit variants.

Here. Do you follow notifications under the bell?

Judging by the indication on reg, this is not the case.

That is a completely different topic that I haven't paid attention to since this post https://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=445004#p445004

No, I have disabled them, for all but moderator notifications.

Yes we know that now, but it is still a fact that the problem had nothing to do with setting icons for folder tabs in View Modes.

Ok, set the same keys and values to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons] and now they work.

Thanks!
