If you do not have the opportunity to copy part of the name, then 4-6 more operations will be added: select and delete the excess in 3 and 5 names.Just select 3, copy, paste, then select 5, copy, paste, append [C]

I agree, that a possibility to be able to use Ctrl+C to copy the highlighted name could be usefull.
Maybe with a right-click menu like this
--------------------------------------------
Copy
--------------------------------------------
Copy selected file name to clipboard:
[x] Exclude extension
[ OK ] [ Cancel ]
--------------------------------------------
The state of "Exclude extension" should be remembered.
Or maybe:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Copy
--------------------------------------------------------------
Insert selected file name at cursor in file name field
[x] Exclude extension
[ OK ] [ Cancel ]
--------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Want to copy original filename in Multi-Rename tool
As this is the suggestion section of the forum, my suggestion for a new MRT placeholder would be to use an identifier in the Old file name [N] place holder referring to the ORDER as they appear in the Old/New list - I'm using the # column here just to illustrate. So at the start [1:N] would refer to File 1.txt
But if you would re-order the files like below, [1:N] would now be File 3.txt
This way you can select files, use [?:N#-#] to be able to mix and match several Old file names and because you can easily re-order them in the MRT tool there is no particular need to worry about the order you have selected them before starting the MRT.
So in this thread we have several methods (work arounds) to do more or less what the OP wants to do, but this would be the suggestion on how to be able to do it just using MRT as this allows to select individual filenames and compose a new file name based on one or several Old filenames.
I can imagine it being used.
# | Old name | New name |
[1:N] | File 1.txt | |
[2:N] | File 2.txt | |
[3:N] | File 3.txt |
