Forum problems

Post by *Lefteous »

Hello,

there are currently several problem concerning the forum. The forum must have been updated multiple times due to errors in the forum software phpBB and in the server-side programming technology PHP itself. Unfortunately some updates have some downsides:
- Read posts are no longer marked as read.
- Some users cannot login anymore.

Please aquire a new password for your account if you have this problem. If that doesn't help, please be patient until the problem has been solved.

Thanks for your patience!

Big problem

:) Hello Christian!
- At the moment, I can login; but Win had forgotten the new password, and now some read posts remain marked as unread.
- Moreover, I've been logged out the first time I opened a thread!

:) Hello !
- It's the same here, and it seems that a "time out" is applied too, since I've to login again when I remain for a while doing nothing on the board…
- Also all already read post stay marked as "Unread".
- From the Index-page, I ought click the link “Mark all forums as read” (or so, I use the French Interface) :(

 Kind regards,
Claude

Yes, you are right - the read/unread problems apperas in my case, too. Only the option at the main page works correctly.

Some changes have been applied which should have solved the forum problems.

My own forum http://phpbb2.dk is running on a linux with Apache 1.3.31, php 4.3.10 and doesn't have these problems - I suggest a slight error in some modding of the board (or an incompatible phpbb 2.0.11 mod - some mods, like the 'keep unread'-mod must be modified to fit the new updates in phpbb). I haven't found a list of mods applied to this board, so I can't give any suggestions. ;)

BTW, is there by any chance a RSS-feed mod installed here?

Sorry for the forum problems. My Web hoster cannot currently change to php version 4.3.10 - according to them, it would be breaking some customer's scripts. Therefore I have applied the temporary fix from here:
http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=248140

Unfortunately the code for unserializer() is quite faulty. First, it allows a new hacking attack, which allows to execute any commands on the server. Secondly, it only works on the first call, not on multiple calls as required by phpbb.

This has caused the auto-login and threading troubles. I have now modified the script to make it work, and to remove the security hole.

Please contact me either in this thread, or by e-mail if you still encounter problems with the forum.
