[]TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
Hi all,
bug in one or the other program, or on the user's (my) side?
Unfortunately, I only realized this after a few consecutive updates, so I did not have a chance yet to backtrace when it appeared, maybe someone else has seen it?
I have GetDirSize=3 in my wincmd.ini , directory sizes are included in Everything's database, and so is my network drive Z: (ext4 on a Synology NAS).Searching on Z: woks with the expected "Everything speed", so I'm pretty sure the db is ok - I've renewed it anyway, without effect.
The "bug" is that Directory sizes are no longer displayed for drive Z: and it's sub-folders. They are displayed on all other NTFS and FATx drives.
Last time I'm sure it worked was with TC11.02 and Everything 1.5a1365.
Any ideas?
P.S.: just checked - GetDirSize=2 seems to work on all drives , but I'd rather reall yonly have this feature active when TC can get the info from Everything

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
There is no bug.
GetDirSize=2 is the correct setting to include Network files.
So what is the real problem, not including your personal wish ?

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
It was my question if this is a real problem, your honor...
The history.txt is at least ambiguous here, the explanation for mode 3 does not explicitely exclude network drives (and why should it, if Everything provides the data...)
15.03.22 Added: wincmd.ini [Configuration] GetDirSize=0 0:Manual: Alt+Shift+Enter, 1:Automatic, local drives only, 2:Automatic, also on network, 3:Automatic, only with 'Everything' (32/64)
GetDirSize=3 did include network drives in past combinations of TC + Everything.
If I recall the discussion correctly, Christian added mode 2 only grudgingly due to the potential massive slowdown.

Can you display the file sizes with ALT+Shift+ENTER (GetDirSize=0) - at Everything speed(!)?
I also had a problem with GetDirSize=3 in the past (I couldn't test the network),
but there was a bugfix in TC 10.50b3 at that time.

Does Everything list drive Z: when you run the Everything tool itself (e.g. from the system tray) and enter the following search string:

Yes, it does. As mentioned above, from search speed, I am pretty sure the database is healthy.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-03-11, 14:12 UTC Does Everything list drive Z: when you run the Everything tool itself (e.g. from the system tray) and enter the following search string:

Could you try going back to Total Commander 11.02 to check whether the problem is caused by the 11.03 update, or by an update in Everything? You can just install it like an update. Old versions are available here:

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
I went back step by step a few versions, to TC 11.00 and E.1.5a.1361 ,even onto an older PC with TC10.52 and E.1.4.1.1022
and, what shall I say - I never got the folder sizes of network drives to display automatically with GetDirSize=3.
Although all other Everything operations run in the expected full speed on these drives. And folder sizes are always there in full speed with GetDirSize=2.
Have I been dreaming about Mode 3 working as I expected (=automatic, including only those network drives indexed by Everything) ??
Of course I dread to keep mode 2 on, in case I connect to an un-indexed network drive.
Sorry for causing more confusion...

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
I use TC11.03 both x32+x64, Everything 1.5a1371, and have GetDirSize=3 in WinCmd.ini. All works as expected.Last time I'm sure it worked was with TC11.02 and Everything 1.5a1365.
My Everything related ini settings
Code: Select all
Everything="%!Cmdr_Apps%\Everythingv1.5\Everything64.exe" -startup
EverythingForSize=1
EverythingForTree=1
UseEverything=0
UseEverythingInstance=1.5a
Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
that's probably a piece of information I should add - "my" Everything runs system-wide, as a service and with NO_ALPHA_INSTANCE, not started from "inside" TC's "toolbox". I just have the Everything=... entry in there so I can use the same TC folder portable on a PC without Everything installed.
For my current tests I had renamed it to tool\everything64.exe_x_ to be absolutely sure the system-wide Everything was being run.

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
Just comment this line by add ; at the start and ensure that is no another Everything= line in your INI file.tdklaus wrote: 2024-03-12, 17:51 UTC ...

This should work now in Total Commander 11.50 beta 1, please check it!
24.07.24 Added: Everything: Support network drives when getting folder sizes with option "Automatic, only with 'Everything'" (drive needs to be configured in Everything too) (32/64)

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
Could someone test this, please?
1. Open 'Everything' settings and add a network drive to the indexed locations
2. Close and re-open Total Commander
3. Try searching on the drive with 'Everything' option

Works fine for displaying folder sizes in the file panels, but does not do anything for searching on the mapped drive.1. Open 'Everything' settings and add a network drive to the indexed locations
2. Close and re-open Total Commander
3. Try searching on the drive with 'Everything' option
