Please add option to show text under icons on button bar
Please add new option to show permanently visible text label under icons on button bar. If I have more buttons of the same type of files, there are number of visually equal buttons. In such case the visible text (although abbraviated) would be much more useful than icon. In some cases icon is unnecessary, writing short text is quicker way to label button than choosing an icon.

Re: Please add option to show text belove icons on button bar
If you hover over the Icon, you see the description, which can even have more than a line.

Re: Please add option to show text belove icons on button bar
E.g. if I drag five .doc files to the button bar I have 5 visually identical icons on button bar. Only way to know, which button is the just right to open the needed file I must point over each icons to show comments. What I suggest is have option to see text line under icons.

Re: Please add option to show text belove icons on button bar
It's clear now. Personally, I don't need this, because with a lot of rows (as in some bars I have) it will take up a lot of space in terms of height, and in most cases one short word will not be enough, while a good icon shows a few connecting nuances for identification.
But the specifics are clear. I don't think that this option will be in high demand. Although it's curious what the others think.

Re: Please add option to show text belove icons on button bar
Text (although abbraviated) is very good thing to quick work for me. In other programs I have texts on. Of course there should be option to ON/OFF. Each user could set as preferred. Sometimes e.g. for temporary buttons it would be easier to set text instead of search icon. Especially if more temporary buttons are side by side. Sometimes it is hard to choose appropriate icon or choose another icon file etc.
Re: Please add option to show text under icons on button bar
For each separate bar should be an option "to show permanent Labels" ON|off.
And of course such feature must exist in TC

Hmm - I don't see where to place the labels in my configuration: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/totalcmdbuttons.png
If it would be possible to have the tooltip shown for the button ALSO when dragging file(s) to the button - then I would find that much more useful

Re: Please add option to show text under icons on button bar
Microsoft has applied a Ribbon-type interface in Microsoft Office 2007 as part of the Microsoft Fluent User Interface,
replacing menus, toolbars (toolbars) with it. Why Total should not try to implement it also? For example.

That's the option I always disable first, if some tool tries to make the same strange thing.AntonyD wrote: 2024-03-21, 08:00 UTC Microsoft has applied a Ribbon-type interface in Microsoft Office 2007 as part of the Microsoft Fluent User Interface,

...by everyone IN YOUR WORLD ...nobody IN YOUR WORLD. Ribbon is combination of menu and toolbar advantages. In my opinion it raises the productivity in many cases. Man only have to change the habit.Sir_SiLvA wrote: 2024-03-21, 11:45 UTC Because that ribbon is universaly hated by everyone![]()
