Unzip files breaks
Hello,
I am using Total Commander 11.03 64bit.
My problem:
I have thousands of .ZIP files. But it seems that unzipping all the zips is limited to around 1000 (by clicking the icon with the box with green up arrow in the icon's menu bar). This is of course not enough! The program suddenly stops unzipping without error message. This is frustrating. I thought first that a zip was broken, but that's NOT the case. I have tested it with two different series of zip files, with the same result, so it is either a bug, or a limit.
What can I do to change it to at least 10000 (ten thousand) .zip files? This should NOT have any limit, anyway.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Richard

Re: Unzip files breaks
If there is a limit, then just split your jobs.
It looks like you are the first one having this problem, so there maybe no need.
It's easy to make a cmd script for this.

Re: Unzip files breaks
What exactly does that mean? Do you mean: by clicking the Main menu item "Files" -> "Unpack Specific Files Alt+F9". Or do you have a button in the Button bar with that icon, that you use to start the unpacking?by clicking the icon with the box with green up arrow in the icon's menu bar

Re: Unzip files breaks
There is no such limit when using "Files" -> "Unpack Specific Files Alt+F9". Maybe one of the archives was bad? Did you get any error message?

Re: Unzip files breaks
To see it is to believe it.
I have made a video of it, but it is 237 Mb large.
How can I post it here?
I can use wetransfer.com to send it, but therefore I need an e-mail address, or several e-mail addresses.
Then I can send it, you will then receive at that e-mail address(es) a link to download the .mp4 file.

Click on the three dots and select "Get transfer link"

charvi,
Or simply upload to YouTube as unlisted.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
Re: Unzip files breaks
Thank you for that, I was not aware of this possibilityYou can get a direct link from WeTransfer.
Click on the three dots and select "Get transfer link"

Here is the link: https://we.tl/t-Z7vnfC3g6T
- I am showing you that there are 15453 zip files.
- Then I press the '+' key to select all *.zip files.
- The orange background shows the selected files.
- Then I press the 'Unpack all' button.
- Unpack all (*.*)
- Option "Unpack path names if stored with files" is NOT checked!
- Unpacking with Auto-Rename target files.
- Starting unpacking.....
- It abruptly stops at the file "batik.....".
- It shows that there are still 13934 files to unpack.
- There is absolutely no error message.
- The file "batik....." can be unzipped without problem, so it is NOT a broken zip file.
Re: Unzip files breaks
I assume that it is not caused by the files, but what about the file before that?charvi wrote: 2024-05-29, 12:02 UTC - The file "batik....." can be unzipped without problem, so it is NOT a broken zip file.
And what happens if you don't use the auto rename option , but for example Skip all?
BTW, your full name is visible on the video. That might not be what you want.

Maybe it is the auto-rename that fails.
Could you try and unpack with the "Unpack path names if stored with files" checked and see if you still get the same stop.

As per your request, I tried the same with the option checked. But of course not all zips do have subdirectories, so the auto-rename was still necessary.
You said that maybe it is the auto-rename that was failing. Chances are high that you are right, because I saw that renaming more than 999 times the same filename, crashes the program when it needs to rename for the 1000th time. See image: Image: https://imgur.com/a/ao3JZkT. The "batik...." zip file indeed contains the same "Befonts-License.txt" file so it would be the 1000th rename.
It is probably the mask limited to 3 positions that might be the cause for the crash.
We could name this the "Batik syndrome"

Cheers
EDIT: 1000 is smaller than 999 in Ascii order, so I rechecked the filenames, and it stops at 1001 included. So probably is that an array limited to 1000 (0..1000) = 1001 renames
I removed the "Befonts-License.txt" from the Batik zip file, and tried again, and it crashed at the next file, so I am sure that it is the array size. Programmatically, it should return "Error: Array out of bounds"

Re: Unzip files breaks
I made 1005 zip files all containing the same file (and only that file, and not in a subdir) - and I can confirm that the unpacking of the 1005 files stops after unpacking file number 1001.

Re: Unzip files breaks
Ah, you didn't say that you were unpacking >1000 times the same file name! I'm limiting the auto-rename to 1000 because TC has to check for the presence of each file, which becomes slower and slower the more files there already are. Couldn't you use the option to unpack each zip to its own separate subdirectory?
