Change attributes dialog, show existing Attr (for a single file)

Post by *wanderer »

In "Change attributes" dialog, please show existing file attributes (when a single file is selected), perhaps something like this.

If many files are selected, either don't show this section at all, or: for each attribute, if all files have it the same (checked or unchecked) then show it (checked or unchecked respectively), else grayed-out.

The screenshot you show where the original checkboxes are filled out with a dark square, that is only shown when multiple files are
selected. If only one file is selected the boxes will be filled out with checkmarks ☑ if enabled.

Single file selected: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/changeattribsingle.png
Multiple file selected: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/changeattribmulti.png

When multiple files are selected the dark square means - "leave unchanged".
You can click one time on the box to clear it
You can click two times on the box to select it
You can click three times on the box to go back to the "leave unchanged" state

So I really don't see the need for this request - it is already there

Hey, i just saw your post by randomly visiting the forum. I didn't receive an email notification for it, so sorry for the late reply.

What you say is true, so that puzzled me and made me research why i posted this wish. After some time, i realized that what you say is true, but only for single files. In case of singe folders, all checkboxes are grayed-out. I must have seen this behavior on a folder, but mistakenly wrote about files in my post.

Hint, if you have selected a single folder (and the cursor is on that folder), you can change the attributes to the current ones for that folder by clicking the button: [ From active panel (source) (1) ] - that is easier than cliking each of the four attribute boxes, to set them

OK, that's useful. Thanks for the tip.
