I'm on TC v3.50 on a Google Pixel4 Android phone.
I have a FAT32 USB stick connected to the phone, which TC is able to see. All I hoped to do was copy a 2MB JPG from the phone Internal Storage DCIM 'Camera' folder to the USB stick.
But it was extremely confusing.
First I navigated to the picture, did a long press to see some options, and selected "Copy to clipboard". Then I navigated to the stick drive and... there is no Paste command!
So I navigated to the picture, did a long press to see some options, and selected "Send to Total Commander". Not very intuitive but OK. However, that doesn't allow any navigation to find a destination folder!
I tried the other menu "Send to" options but those all involve other apps.
I DID NOT try the "Copy / Move / Send via Bluetooth" because I thought this meant only via Bluetooth and I didn't yet have a connection.
I did find an icon at the lower left that looks like two sheets of paper; so probably a "copy" function. A long press on that pops the info that this is for Bluetooth, which isn't what I wanted.
I finally discovered that, after a long press and "Copy to clipboard", a short press on the 2-sheet icon brings up a general (not Bluetooth only) Copy / Move function, which - even though the file does not appear to be selected - let me copy it to the stick drive.
LATER I found that a long press on the file then "Copy / Move / Send via Bluetooth" actually means "Copy or Move Including via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi".
So I suggest: Change the name of that function, and the info pop-up on the 2-sheets icon.
Also: Send To Total Commander should be able to browse; and there should be a "Paste" function if we navigate somewhere after "Copy to clipboard".
Thanks

Like Total Commander tor Windows, Total Commander for Android is also a two-panel file manager.
Navigate to the file you want to copy.
Then swipe to the other panel (right or left indicated by the arrows at the left or right side of the file list - you can also tap on one of the arrows instead of swiping).
Navigate to the folder you want to copy the file to.
Swipe back to the first panel.
Tap on the ICON(s) of the file(s) to select it/them (do not tap on the file name(s)).
Tap on the second icon in the button bar at the bottom.
Tap on Copy or Move.
This might not be intuitive to people that is not familiar with using a two-panel file manager.

Re: Really basic file copy is confusing to new user
Thank you for the detailed help. I had no idea TC was a two-panel system (!) since I only see one; and got into the mind state of accomplishing what I needed with that. Which looked very possible but things didn't work quite as I expected.
I now understand about clicking on the icon vs the filename. And that is in the Help.
Obviously, I don't use TC very often. I bought it only to have an industrial-strength way of finding pictures on my phone, and copying them to my PC for when Windows Explorer doesn't cut it. And it is exactly that.
I'll stick with my suggestion regarding naming the "Copy / Move / Send with Bluetooth" function, as it's ambiguous now and I took the wrong meaning. Just "Copy / Move" would be better. Or "Transfer incl Bluetooth & Wi-fi".
Thanks again for the attention, which has solved my problem.

Hint, if you rotate your device into landscape position, you can see both panels.since I only see one

Oh. Well... I'm smart but I'm not *that* smart.
