[11.03] Tab name truncated if "Tabs on multiple lines" is unchecked

Post by *jonathanpoulin »

Hi,

I found a little UI bug/glitch about tabs. It happens when the option "Folder Tabs" -> "Tabs on multiple lines" is unchecked.
  1. Open new tabs (on directory) until the tab header is almost filled, just before the buttons "<" and ">" appear automatically
  2. Activate the last tab
  3. Navigate to another directory, which its name is really longer than the current one (e.g. from c: root, navigate to "C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files" using CD on command line)
The tab name won't be displayed properly, it will be truncated.

To see the whole tab name, by example, hit CTRL+SHIFT+TAB and then CTRL+TAB.
Thanks,
Jonathan Poulin

Do you have "All tabs have same width" enabled? - If so try with it disabled.

There is also an option to limit the tab length in Configuration - Options - Folder tabs.

I am aware of the option "All tabs have same width". It is disabled.

Yes, I know the option "Limit tab title length to:" too. I have it set to 18. I tried to 30, but the glitch occur as well.

Have you tried to reproduce?

Hmm, to me it look like the text in the last folder tab is not being truncated, it is just partly hidden under the < > arrows that appear, when you load the folder with the longer "Downloaded Program Files" name. So you expect the tabs to be automatically scrolled to the left in that situation?

Yes. I said truncated, but it is hidden. You're right. Sorry for that.

So, yes, I expect the tabs to be automatically scrolled to the left at startup, if needed.

Personally, I have always a bunch of tabs open that fill almost always the tab header, like 7 or 8 tabs open. Often, I have the rightmost tab selected when I quit TC. So, next time I open it, the tab is hidden partially (like half of it). This is not really annoying. I wanted to report it. Because, it should be easy to fix.

This should be fixed in beta 4, please check it!
29.10.24 Fixed: Folder tabs, not multi-line, not same width: When changing from a directory with a short name to one with a long name, make sure that the tab header is fully visible (32/64)
