Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
My video was on Windows 10, but I don't get the error.

Video recorded with Windows snipping tool:

There must be some (probably unintentional) misunderstanding here, because your earlier post seems to indicate that the video was recorded on Windows 11. It's also not an error, but a visual glitch where on returning to the parent folder using double click, the file list is very quickly scrolled one additional line upwards (like my gif and the videos posted by reenstix and petermad illustrate)...
Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
Please check again, because in your video the visible GUI and the rounded windows are definitely from Windows 11

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
Thanks for sharing your experience with it - much appreciated. It does indeed look like it happens for some folks / architectures / OS-s and doesn't for others. Unfortunately, that is typically the case with most bugs / glitches, and what makes them difficult to fix at times.JOUBE wrote: 2024-07-27, 03:12 UTCI cannot confirm the behavior for Win10.Yincognito wrote: 2024-04-29, 12:11 UTC Image: https://i.ibb.co/82zw97n/Desktop-2024-04-29-13-47-40-048-ezgif-com-optimize.gif

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
I can confirm the behavior when using Windows 10 and Windows 11.
It seems to be related to scrolling margins added in TC 9.50b1:

It does not seem necessary to disable the drive combo box. This is what I did without disabling the drive combo box:
- Start 64-bit TC
- Go to c:\windows
- Enter the folder "Web" en double click the ".." entry to go back again.
Now I have 4 rows visible below "Web" - Drag the bottom border of TC's window to resize TC's window so only 3 rows are visible below "Web"
- Now, entering in and out the "Web" folder using the keyboard, shows 3 rows below "Web".
But when using the mouse, it shows 4 rows below "Web".
Results are not always consistent.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
I followed the steps you mentioned (while keeping Show Drive Combobox enabled) and I did indeed get the same inconsistent results - I first got 3 line when using the mouse and I was about to write that getting 4 lines doesn't happen for me, until I tried again and got 4 lines, then 3 again and so on like you described. For the record, for your steps to work, Configuration > Options... > Operation > Extra Lines Below Cursor must be ticked and set to 4 (for some reason, in my current / new installation after all the testing earlier, I had that value set to 2). Obviously, if the Extra Lines Below Cursor is not ticked, then the issue with the additional line scrolled doesn't happen.white wrote: 2024-07-27, 12:32 UTCSometimes, it alternates when using the mouse, I might get 4 lines, when trying again, I get 3 lines, then 4 lines again, etc.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
I have now tested on an old convertible with Core i5-3317U and Intel HD Graphics 4000, and I can indeed see a jump. First the folder is shown at the bottom (scroll into view), then it is scrolled up the number of lines configured in Configuration - Options - Operation. I don't see this jump on my main PC because the command to scroll up is sent before Windows can draw the first list.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
That's a progress, at least you now notice a similar behavior. Not sure if it's exactly what me and the others who managed to replicate the behavior are noticing, since for us the folder is typically first shown N-1 lines from the bottom and then it's scrolled to N lines from the bottom (where N is the number of lines configured in Configuration - Options - Operation), but maybe these two behaviors are related, so I think we're on the right track here. It's certainly better than not being able to replicate a similar issue at all - thanks for trying to investigate the matter.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-07-29, 17:28 UTC I have now tested on an old convertible with Core i5-3317U and Intel HD Graphics 4000, and I can indeed see a jump. I superimposed a red ↑↑↑ on the video towards the end to better illustrate what I mean (best viewed at 0.25 playback speed):

This is on TC 11.00 x64, Win 10 x64, the video card(s) I mentioned in my 3rd post from this thread, and with 4 Extra Lines Below Cursor being set.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
What happens is that Windows itself scrolls the parent directory into view when I set the cursor on it. Then I call the function "SetTopIndex" to set the top item in the list, which scrolls the list up. If it bothers you, turn off "Extra lines below cursor" in Configuration - Options - Operation.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
But, why does this only happen when using the mouse? And why does it happen inconsistently when using the mouse, for example alternating between happening and not happening each time you try again?ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-07-31, 07:10 UTC Then I call the function "SetTopIndex" to set the top item in the list, which scrolls the list up.
Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
Thank you for checking this. After deactivating this option, the cursor is positioned on the last folder and indeed there is no jump. The only question is why this only happens under Windows 10 and older and only on the x64 version of TC?

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
Sorry, but we're talking about two different things here. The report was not about jumping from "item into view" position (i.e. at the very bottom of the list) to "item into final" position (i.e. at extra lines from the bottom of the list), but, like others said, about the wrong and inconsistent way the latter is performed across TC versions / Windows versions / mouse vs keyboard actions (i.e. scrolling one additional line to do it). In other words, it's about having to scroll up first to extra lines-1 from the very bottom and then again 1 more line up, instead of scrolling up extra lines directly in one step.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-07-31, 07:10 UTCWhat happens is that Windows itself scrolls the parent directory into view when I set the cursor on it. Fair enough, but if I was looking for workarounds like turning on "Show drive combobox" or turning off "Extra lines below cursor" (which I already mentioned), I wouldn't have posted the report in the first place. The idea was to help in fixing this without giving away the ability to enjoy other nice TC features. Anyway, it's your program, work and effort (for which us users are definitely grateful), so I personally understand if you consider other things to be more important to correct, after all this is just a minor visual glitch without any functional impact on TC operations.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-07-31, 07:10 UTCIf it bothers you, turn off "Extra lines below cursor" in Configuration - Options - Operation.
