I’ve noticed that TC (that’s on WinNT v4.0 haven’t tried it on other MS OSs) beeps when I try to access a network folder I do not have permissions to. On the other hand Explorer displays a meaningful message with the type of error/restriction.
Shouldn’t the later case be followed by our beloved TC too? Some inexperienced users (and why not some experienced ones) may not realise what causes the beeps. A message box is more user friendly IMHO even if there is a slight functionality delay from the user interaction!

Well, I didn’t suggest to follow Explorer’s behavior because I find beeps annoying but because as I said it’s a more human-like approach to get a message box with information/details related to the type of restriction or error. Disabling beeps is another issue!
And don’t get me wrong on supporting Explorer here. I don’t. And depending on user preferences we can have an INI entry or a tick box within the configuration settings to activate/deactivate error messaging reporting.
