Default size of secondary windows

Post by *wanderer »

IMO, when in a new resolution (or a fresh TC instance) and a secondary window (i.e. "Lister", "Search", "Compare By Contents", etc.) opens for the first time (so no size/location is stored in the INI for this window in the current resolution), it should open with the same size as TC's main window and in teh same position, not something much smaller as is today.

It would be a nice feature if all sub-windows opened like this...

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

I find this suggestion very inconvenient.
Why should a Lister window hide the complete TC ?
Very unrealistic for today's screen sizes and resolutions.
Windows 11 Home, Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3915)
TC 11.51 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1391a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.5.2.0, Listary Pro 6.3.2.88
QAP 11.6.4.2.1 x64

Hi there. Please have in mind, i'm suggesting to have the initial size and position of the windows to be the same as TC's size and position. Then, as done today, if the user resizes the window, the new size (and position) will be saved. As is today, all windows initially open in a size that's inconveniently small. Personally, i've grown tired of having to resize each window every time i setup TC in a new PC or i change the resolution of a VM, that's why i suggested this.

I included Lister in the equation to denote that IMO all windows should follow this tactic, even though Lister is a different case (having its own "save position" menu).

If the exact TC's size and position seems inconvenient, at least make it 90% TC's size and the new window to be centered over TC's window, not something like 40% as is now...

EDIT: Take a look at this for example: https://imgur.com/a/iaNZqcz

Will any logical person leave the search window in these dimensions? Is this convenient?

Edit2: The image's size is 1086x791. Find Files has a size of about 570x300. Really???
