Autocomplete of TC's internal commands at command prompt's editbox

Post by *AntonyD »

In fact, the whole essence of the proposal is in the title.
As we know, to call and search for an internal team, we have a whole dialogue for this.
And inside the dialog there is even a filter field. Those, if we know this name (at least part),
then we can quickly move to the desired element of the “Choose Command” dialog.
But for the default installation (more precisely for the main menu configuration) Total
the ability to QUICKLY reach this dialogue is very complicated.
And only if the user HIMSELF creates the appropriate command in the main menu:
will add a call to "cm_CommandBrowser=2924;Browse internal commands" = then it will
become more faster for everyday using....

BUT isn’t it reasonable to have the same thing right away in the command's edit/enter field;
what, with appropriate settings, hangs constantly at the bottom of the Total window?
I’m talking about the Command Line (prompt! by the way, more precisely if you use Windows
terminology) of course.... Why is there absolutely no input completion in it?
At least relative to the built-in Total commands...

I've set an alias for the command browser:

Menu "Configuration" > Options... > Misc. > Redefine hotkeys (Keyboard remapping):
Alias: cmb ... Command: cm_CommandBrowser [the alias could certainly be shortened...]

- Press the right arrow key to position the cursor in the TC command line
- cmb <enter> in the TC command line
  - the cursor is already positioned in the ‘Filter’ field - you can start entering
  - all commands are available

I agree with you! We can come up with/make different ways out of the situation with existing capabilities.
BUT! for such a smart - without exaggeration - application like Total - it is very strange not to have this function
by auto-completion of entered internal commands in its own input field = "command prompt".

For many matches, a drop-down list is required. I'm not sure if this option will be correct for the command line, which already has its own command history drop-down list.
Also, this field already has autocomplete for the names of the active list, which could potentially match the command names.
