I don't see the specific icon for .pdf files

Post by *vascaraus »

hello. I don't see the specific icon for .pdf files, even though I have Adobe Acrobat Professional installed. I try to make default viewer, and other combinations. But still the same empty icon is there.

Looking at your screenshot, it does not seem like your files has any extension - are you sure the filenames ends with .pdf ?

They do have an extension, it's just shown in a separate column.

This happens sometimes when you double click a file and Windows asks you which program you want to use to open the file. There are two buttons, "just once" nd "always". If you pick "always", you will get the correct icon. If you pick "just once", there is a bug: Windows will also stop asking about which program to open (although it was told not to do that!), but will not assign an icon via registry. The Explorer still seems to pick an icon somehow, probably in the same buggy function which ignored the "just once" button.

They do have an extension,
Usually with long file names there will be two periods after the name if the name is truncated - I don't see that, so I guess vascaraus has just precisely expanded the name columns so the name is not truncated but leaves no space up to the extension.

This also happens when TC does not redraw the icons. I often come across this in recent versions. I have to execute cm_ReloadFileIcons, it's annoying.

I cannot reproduce that, when do you get this? Or do you mean after configuring a different icon?
