many thanks

The Enter key does the same thing as a double-click - same as in Explorer. If you want to use a different key you can map the cm_Return command to a key (combination) of your choice in Options > Misc > Redefine hotkeys.

It was so simple that I forgot it!! thanks Dalai.
One more: I customized the key F9 to open the Synchronize directories since I have no indication by hovering over the icon about a default shortcut. Is that true = no default key combination to open that function?

thanks.

Correct - there is no default shortcut for the Synchronize function. F9 (or F10) is a good choice for a customized shortcut since F9 and F10 sets focus to the main menu - something that one can easily do without.

You have a nice keyboard.txt in the install folder of total commander listing all default keys.
You can also use Ultra TC Editors "Hotkeys Editor.exe" with latest data files.
