[TC 11.03] Buttons to manage user-defined commands not always enabled/appearing

Post by *white »

Issue 1:
  • Make sure you have created one or more user-defined commands.
(execute cm_commandbrowser, choose category usercmd.ini and and a new command)
  • Re-open the command browser (cm_commandbrowser)
  • Type "em_" (without quotes) to filter on this text.
  • The first user-defined command is selected, but the buttons Edit, Delete, Rename/Copy, are disabled.
Issue 2 (64-bit TC dark mode only):
  • Make sure you have created one or more user-defined commands.
(execute cm_commandbrowser, choose category usercmd.ini and and a new command)
  • Re-open the command browser (cm_commandbrowser)
  • Click on the category Source.
  • Click on the filter input field and type "em_".
  • Click on the category All.
  • Click on the category All a second time.
  • The buttons to manage the user-defined commands vanish.

I can confirm issue 1

Regarding issue 2 - when I perform item 5: "Click on the category All." then the line:

usercmd.ini=========================

is highlighted - so that explains why there are no buttons activated - I don't see any difference when clicking All the second time.

See: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/choosecommand.mp4

It is the same if you for example type cm_ in the Filter box - every time you click All, the first Category line is highlighted (Source=====).

The buttons should be shown, but only New button enabled. Select the line any other way and this will be the case.

It's when using dark mode and 64-bit TC only. I updated my post.

I can confirm that - so a bug in that respect.

I still don't see any difference when clicking All the second time in Dark mode. Here the buttons are not show already after the first click on All.

See: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/choosecommand2.mp4

I also don't see any difference in 32bit TC.

Even though the videos show my TC in Windows 7, I have also tested it in Windows 10, with no difference.

I am using Windows 11 Pro 23H2, build 22631.3737. You can see my video here.

I have used a test folder with clean ini file in the test folder. When I copy the folder to Windows Sandbox and test it there, I get the same result as you.
The Windows version in the Sandbox is: Windows 11 Enterprise 22H2, build 22621.3737.

Perhaps it is a timing thing.

I think so too - I had so far only tested with my work .ini and with my Extended menu which adds a second user defined .ini of about 500 em_commands.

If I turn off my Extended menu (using the build in English language file), I can reproduce the bug as you describe in 64bit TC in both Normal and Dark mode under Windows 10, but only in Normal mode under Windows 7

Under Windows 10 in 32bit TC, If I enable my Extended menu - so that the Command browser has to read the additional .ini file - then the buttons are always already missing after the first click on All in both Normal and Dark mode. Without the Extended menu .ini, the buttons are always shown both after the first and the second click on All.

Under Windows 7 in 32bit TC I can reproduce the bug as described, but only in Dark mode - in Normal mode the buttons are already missing at the first click on All.

So there seems to be at least four conditions determining this behavior:
  • The presence of a (large) alternative .ini file with user commands (loaded if it has the same name as the currently used .mnu file)
  • The bitness of TC
  • The Windows version
  • The use of Normal or Dark mode

First issue: Tested OK using TC 11.50b1 32-bit and 64-bit.
Second issue: Still exists.

Why would you report two bugs in one thread? I often overlook these. :(

Because they concern the same buttons. When fixing these buttons it may be relevant to know of the other problem with these buttons as well. And it might be more efficient to fix multiple issues on the same thing consecutively.
