With root: I see both the mapped drive (from Network drives) and the Indexed drives (from Network indexes)
With ?: I do not see the Network indexes - because they are monuted as \\server\driveletter$ so there is no : in the name

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
I'm already using "root:" when the search starts in an UNC path like \\server\share\
I have tested this by adding \\server\share\ to the indexed folders in Everything 1.4.x and then searching from server\share\, and it worked.
Maybe it doesn't work with Everything 1.5 only? I don't plan to support pre-release versions of Everything at this time.

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
Understandable - it is just that version 1.5 has been in alpha since March 2021 - so it is almost like 1.50 has become standard - I surrendered to 1.5x a few moth ago.I don't plan to support pre-release versions of Everything
I went back and tried with 'Everything' 1.4.1.1026 and heer I add a shared Network folder ampped as a drive in the Folders index (just as in the Network drives category in v. 1.5) and it works fine both tfor showin dir sizes and searching.
Unfortunately I can not put an admin share like C$ in the Folders index in version 1.4 (that was what I could do in version 1.5 in the "Network indexes")
And I don't feel like making my whole C-drive into a shared folder on the PC.

If you fellow the release history of Everything versions, you see that it is not comparable to other software.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-10-17, 14:16 UTC Maybe it doesn't work with Everything 1.5 only? I don't plan to support pre-release versions of Everything at this time.
Version 1.5 is in so many points superior over version 1.4.
It's wasting time to run version 1.4.
1.5 is stable, actively maintained and also faster than the 1.4

Regarding this topic and the previous posts, I would like to add the following:ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-10-17, 14:16 UTC I don't plan to support pre-release versions of Everything at this time.
If there has been NO new 'Everything' 1.5a version for 4 months(!),
then in my opinion there can't have been any serious problems,
because otherwise they would have been fixed within a short time
(as has also happened in the past).
Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
I am back to 'Everything' 1.5a again - there were no benefits in 1.4 - TC also there had problems getting data form 'Everything' when 'Everything' is scanning/re-scanning the drives on the Network..

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
The problem with pre-release versions is that the functionality can suddenly change, and this would break the interaction with Total Commander. 1.4 is stable, and as you can see, both searching and getting dir sizes works with network drives.

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
I have now installed the latest Everything 1.5 alpha on 2 PCs and the server plugin on one. I got it to work, but it requires some non-trivial setup.
If you just start the server on the FIRST PC and add a user, and then add a connection to that server in "Network Indexes" on the SECOND PC, you will not get what you expect. Example: Imagine that there is a file named nontrivialname.txt on the server in c:\users\yourusername\somedirectory\
Now when you launch the Everything user interface on the OTHER PC and search for nontrivialname.txt, it will return
c:\users\yourusername\shared\nontrivialname.txt
although the file is NOT present on that PC! It just returns the location on the remote PC, but you can't actually access the file!
Now to make it work (also with Total Commander), you have to:
1. Share a directory via Windows file sharing. For example, we share c:\users\yourusername as home.
It can be accessed from the other PC under share \\firstpc\home
2. On the first PC, run the Everything user interface and go to Tools - Options - Everything server
3. In the lower half of the dialog (Include only), click on "Add.."
4. As "Path:" enter the following: c:\users\yourusername
5. As "Remap to:" enter the following: \\firstpc\home
6. Click OK in both dialogs.
Now when you connect to the share \\firstpc\home on the SECOND PC, it will appear as \\firstpc in root: search.
And when you now search for nontrivialname.txt on the SECOND PC, it will appear as
\\firstpc\home\somedirectory\nontrivialname.txt
and can be accessed via double click too!
And now the search in Total Commander will also work via Everything.
However, there is a problem: Searching for root: returns just \\firstpc and not \\firstpc\home even when there are multiple shared folders. So when you don't add an entry for a share in "Include only", TC cannot search there because it's not provided by the server although the server reports that all shares for \\firstpc are shared.

I made it work for whole drives (not shares) this way:
In 'Everything's "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Plugins" -> "Everything server" I enter my user name in "User accounts", and in "Include only" I enter the drive root of the drives I want mapped: C:\, E:\ etc.
I do that on both PC's
In "Network Indexes" -> "Remote Everything indexes" the other computer is automatically added as Username@Servername
In the "Network Indexes" -> "Include only" I add the drives I want to map, BUT I Mount them as \\Servername\C$, \\Servername\E$ etc. (where Servername is the name of the other PC)
By doing that, the mapped drives in 'Everything's Show window turns up as \\Servername\C$ instead of turning up as a second C: drive
In TC I can just go to \\Severname\$C - and search the whole C: drive on the romet PC, and the search will show for example \\Servername\C$\directory\nontrivialname.txt for c:\directory\nontrivialname.txt on the remote PC

Re: []TC11.03] dirsize with Everything 1.5a1371 bug??
That's basically the same but with administrative shares - I do not want to share entire drives, so I do this with the few folders I actually share.
So is there any bug left I need to fix?
