Opening .xz files with internal 7z plugin?

Post by *Pathduck »

Hi :)
I've been excited about the new 11.50 beta internal 7z unpacker and hoping it would allow more obscure archives to be un/packed.

I sometimes need to unpack .xz archives and was hoping it would now automatically recognize these. Unfortunately it seems it does not, nor does Ctrl+PgDn open them - I have it remapped to Alt+PgDn but that shouldn't matter.

I've very rarely used the Internal Associations feature, and I looked into if I could configure it to recognize xz files as archives there.
Basically I read the Help files and configured it so the ini added these fields:

Code: Select all

Filter1=*.xz
Filter1_open=**internal_zip
Filter1.icon=D:\bin\totalcmd\totalcmd.exe,8
If I try Enter I get "Error in packed file ...xz".
I also tried **internal_7z and it does the same.

Any ideas what can be done to make it recognize xz files? I'd rather avoid installing another plugin.
