Switching from googleplay version to full version

To switch from Googleplay version, do I uninstall one and install the other?
Does this keep existing settings/accounts?

Do NOT uninstall, just install the download version!
This has two advantages:
1. You keep all your settings,
and
2. The two have the same signature, so Android will refuse to install the download version if it has been modified in any way.
