It's just that for quite a long time and quite effectively there have been surveys/disputes about WHAT kind of strange set of archivers in a rigid version is sewn into the program for work. And for the first time there is a person who can somehow clarify the reason for WHY, WHERE and HOW one of these outdated archivers is used.
And.... And he prefers not to answer such a simple question... It's sad...

Re: Command-line Compression Utilities
I am not actually using it. I only archive with zip and 7z. I do need sometimes to uncompress with arj, rar, xz, bz2. But as the packing options are there, I periodically make sure, as I said, that all is all right.
But I do not understand why the "why" is important in order to fix the "how". "Where" is most of the time irrelevant, as it is usually between the keyboard and the chair.

Because you have a suspicion that the INTERNAL archiving mechanism of Total itself is NOT properly working - then the post should have been created in the Total BUG report section. It is very unlikely that anyone will go into current topic, and even with a very outdated archiver, will double-check something.

My first suspicion is always that I myself am doing something wrong.
