Hi all,
I hope you find this feature request reasonable and not that much tricky to implement. Please check the image to better understand the context.
I am missing the ability to close a tab from the list of open tabs and history of recently closed ones. https://ibb.co/R6zfYBC
The problem, or the inconvenience is:
if I need to close an open tab and using only keyboard I have to switch to it.
The only other way to close it without switching to it is with the mouse. This is not even possible from the options for the List of Open Tabs as seen on the image.
I would like to kindly suggest that the Delete/Close function is implemented particularly for this list, so that one can just press DEL button and remove the tab from the list without switching.
Switching to a tab and then closing is an additional waste of time, loose of focus (one has to open the list of tabs again) and is very inconvenient, when you work with remote locations, since TC then tries first to connect, then fail, then give you the opportunity to delete.
IMO the perfect would be to have an assignment for the removal of the tab from the list to the DEL button.
but that is my point of view.
Best regards,
Ivan

Re: missing Close tab on the list of open tabs
There is actually a way to close a tab with the keyboard without switching to it:
1. Hold down Ctrl key
2. Press Tab repeatedly until the tab you want to close has the active header
3. Do not release Ctrl yet! Otherwise Total Commander would switch to the tab!
4. Press W (Ctrl+W=close tab)
-> Total Commander will close the tab and switch to the one behind it

Dear Mr. Ghisler
That is correct, the inconvenience with switching remains though...
Nevertheless. Thank you for the great product!

Re: missing Close tab on the list of open tabs
I have also tried the following in attempt to overcome the problem.
I have assigned Ctrl+Pg UP/Dowm to switch between panels similar to Chrome and other browsers.
I have then assigned Ctr+shift +Pg Up/Down to move the current tab left or right.
Now if I go to a tab using Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+PgUp and see the next one is a remote location, which I would like to avoid loading, then I would like to try to move to the left, using multiple of Ctrl+Pg UP to reach the one to close and then trying to move to the left with holding Ctrl, pressing Shift and PgUp = fails. does nothing, it is being ignored.
