Search in separate process - Error
Hi,
sorry for my poor english. I'll try to explain.
Try this in TC 11.50 RC2
Create a shortcut, set target: "[Total commander path]\TOTALCMD64.EXE" /S=F:S*"
Launch shortcut
Type something in "search for" bos (for example *.txt")
Select one of the search results.
[F3 View] / [F4 Edit] / [New search] buttons work correctly.
[Go to file] and [[feed to listbox] buttons show "Program not found!" error box.
Thanks
Roberto

Re: Search in separate process - Error
Let me guess - you do this without TC program running? So no panel windows?

I open only search process, using previously created .lnk as described
Thanks
Re: Search in separate process - Error
So "Program not found" refers to the main TC window.
I think there is no bug here - such a function has simply not been implemented - starting the main program when it is not running.

Having given the possibility of a kind of "standalone search", I think it could be an idea to launch a session of TC instead of showing that error, or, anothe choice, open file in windows esplorer like "open location" in standard explorer context menu rather than show an error box.
It's only, obviously, my opinion.
Thanks

Then just start the Tc itself *) and press again (as nobody can know how you want to start the Tc.)

Re: Search in separate process - Error
In my opinion it's not an error, it's a missing feature. In this case there might be warning "Program not found! Run it now?" and some buttons to chose proper option.
So this topic should be moved to "Suggestions" forum, I think.

Re: Search in separate process - Error
Indeed it's a missing feature, the buttons are meant to transfer the results to an already running Total Commander window. I will not add new features during the "release candidate" phase, sorry.
