TC starts mp3 as fd://number

Post by *Sanshine »

Hello
If I open an mp3 in TC the file is played with VLC with the name fd://62 or 77 or whatever number. Every time a different number. If I play the file only once, there is no problem. If I wanna play the file and repeat it afterwards, VLC is not finding the file fd://66 again and stops playing. If I start the song directly in VLC (by the file manager of VLC) the filename is correct (artist-song.mp3) and the the repeat function works.
Do you have an idea how to fix this?
TC 3.4 and TC 3.5 tested
VLC 3.5.7

Sounds like VLC can't handle content URLs correctly. If VLC can still handle file URLs, you can define an internal association in Total Commander to pass files as file URLs instead of content URLs. To do this, you need to define an internal association for mp3 where the option content://URL is unchecked.

I went to TC and configure. Then internal links. I made this entry:

But still I see fd://number and still no repeat function.

The internal association is OK, no idea why VLC would still show the wrong name - maybe it still has the file from the previous call open and fails to open the file URL.

It works now, I was really surprised when the song suddenly started again. I don't know why it didn't work right away after the change.
