No, it's not!

Use to with older versions even without renaming (Ctrl+PgDown). The new installer doesn't allow that.

What to you mean it's not?

tcmd603a.exe to tcmd603a.zip and it is handled like a zip.

Even the explorer in XP handles it like a zip.

Perhaps you mean the 650 version, yes that one you can't simply rename to .zip.

Greetings.

W!ke98,
i can't unpack the install.exe
Let me repeat once again - install.exe is not an archive.
What to you mean it's not?
It's a SFX ZIP, for the least.

Hi,

1)
I know that the install.exe is not an archive, just testing what was told in
this topic, regaring the port plugin.

2)
SFX ZIP is handled like a zip as well ;) (it's a zip)
That's what i meant, you rename it to .zip and you can handle it like a zip.

Greetings.

tosbsas wrote:One more - maybe I just need to look in the help file - but how can you tell which TC packer to use or test different packers without renaming file's extension
TC itself is distinguish between the different packers to use. It knows by the fileheader which packer (or installed packerplugin) to use.

If you don't have installed a resource-plugin you will see even on a selfextracting zip (with extension EXE) the content by putting the curor on this file and press [Ctrl]+[Pgown].

TC 6.03 is indeed a zip. But there are some install-files that use an unknown packer. E.g. Nero Burning ROM uses a packer I have not installed (and don not know). So I have a shortcut with "cd %temp%" which leads me directly to the temp dir. So starting the install process of Nero with clicking on nero5990.exe leads to the unpacking of the install files into temp Dir.
Then appears the 'Nero Burning ROM Install Wizard' asking you if you like to install Nero. Here you should not press [next] but switch to the %temp%- dir. There you wil find a new dir which contains the usual install files including a common 'setup.exe''.

That is what I was all the thread talking about ;)

Sorry, I thought I made it clear. So it's nice to hear that you got it after all.

Yes, sorry, my bad! For the past three months or so I was dealing with v6.50 and I thought v6.03 had the same installer method.
