[TC11.50] Repeated filtering Quick Search needs extra keypresses

Post by *sesc »

In versions before 11.50, I would often re-run the previous filtering quick search with Ctrl+Shift+S. The search string would be prefilled and the filtering occurred immediately.

In version 11.50 installed today, the repeated Ctrl+Shift+S does not have this direct filtering effect. The string gets prefilled, the "Ctrl+S" button is depressed, but no filtering takes place. I can press CursorUp or CursorDown to jump to finds as if in non-filtering mode.
Only once I press Ctrl+S twice to explicitly leave and re-enter filtering mode does any filtering occur, or if I add a letter to the search string or remove one.

Come to think of it -- sorry if this glides into Feature-Request territory --: Even the previous "repeat" behaviour deviates in one slightly confusing respect from the "fresh search/filtering" behaviour, in that the cursor does not jump to the first find (instead: if the current file is a match, the cursor stays; otherwise it jumps to ".."). I feel it would be ideal if this could be adjusted as well. But the bugfix has the higher priority.

I can confirm that the behavior of Ctrl+Shift+S has changed since TC 11.50rc1.

Before TC 11.50rc1 pressing Ctrl+Shift+S applied the last filter immediately - but now I have to press Ctrl+Shift+S 3 times before the filter is applied.

The change in behavior is probably due to this fix:

Thank you for verifying, Christian!
Goes to show that missing such things can happen to the best of us - comforting for this fellow programmer! :)

I am currently working on Total Commander 11.51 to fix such bugs that were found after the final release of 11.50. Please report any more such bugs as soon as possible so that I can fix them in 11.51 as well.

This should be fixed in 11.51 RC1, please test it!
Ctrl+Shift+S didn't re-apply the quick search filter immediately
