[TC 11.51rc4] Update an existing ZIP-File

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC 11.51rc4] Update an existing ZIP-File

Post by *muelleronline »

You open in one window an existing ZIP-File
Delete some items in the ZIP-File
Try to insert some files from the other window.
Sometimes a new ZIP file is generated with name of the window-folder
This happend last time with an encrypted ZIP-Archiv
(internal packer)

Try to insert some files from the other window.
At this step, do you see your archive file name in the Pack dialog box?

I don't understand the need for step 3 ?
I just copy the file to the open zip on the other side.
This also opens the menu and works perfect.

I guess you used menu Files > Pack (Alt+F5). That function creates a new archive and names that archive based on the name(s) of the file(s) that are about to be packed. If you intend to add files to an already open archive, use F5 (copy) instead.

PS: This is not a bug.

Yes. The same for F6 (move).

Yes, you are right.
There is a difference
1. Menu option "pack"
2. F5 Copy
I would have thought that it would not make a difference if an archive is open like in my example

Since this wasn't a bug, I'm moving this thread to the "will not be changed" forum.
