I use both VMware Workstation and Total Commander extensively and it would be very handy to look into VMware disk images (vmdk files) to get a single file from a backup or similar tasks from within TC.
In principle this is possible with recent versions of 7zip used with Total7zip. It opens the file but the problems start, when there are more than one partition within the file. Then I see an entry for every partition when I open the file. When I try to open one of these, it is first extracted (in temp folde I guess) and eventuelly gives an error message. Perhaps too many GB to extract.
On the other hand I can see that it works "in principle": As long as there is just one partition within the vmdk, it just opens and everything is fine in TC.
I also opend one of the problematic multi-partition images within the 7zip GUI program. There I also first see the partitions but when I open one of them, it takes only a few seconds and it opens and I see the real files. It would be so convenient to be able to do the same from within TC.
As I said I took the binaries for Total7zip from the same 7zip install package, so the 7zip version is identical.
Is there a way to somehow use this 7zip capability (viewing and extracting files from typical multi-partition disk images) from within TC? Either through Total7zip or another plugin or the builtin 7zip support?

For that you can use diskinternals Universal disk reader for Total Commander -> the https://www.diskinternals.com/reader-for-tc/

Re: Total7zip and VMDK Disk images
In the meantime I found this too. It works but is not as nice as a packer plugin. And since the underlying library supports it, it is a pity that the plugin doesn't provide a way to deal with this kind of files.
But since you mention the diskinternals fs plugin: Do you know how to unmount the vmdk file after use? The only way I found was to unload all plugins or to restart TC.
