Different color for files with comments?

Post by *ddofborg »

What about being able to set a different color/icon for files with comments. I mean the BBS-like comments which are stored in DESCRIPT.ION. That way you could see if there is extra information stored for a file.

Hi again!
- You watch that simply passing the mouse-cursor above the file-names… and get an info-text. You must enable this in Configuration >> Options >> Display >> Help Texts >> Tick the box Win 32 style" info-texts for comments…
- Or else, I don't see how to set a colour for that; colours are possible for file-types only, AFAIK…

I support that idea... a small overlay icon for files with comments would also be pretty nifty...

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Well, if you have like 200 files in your download directory, it's easier to view DESCRIPT.ION :)

Yes, the special icon would be enough for me, too.

Just press Ctrl+Shift+F2 to show or hide comments very quickly! Btw, the next version of TC will allow to set a different color for files with comments.

Hi Chris :) Yes that option is great!!! I do use it sometimes. But the color thing could work a bit faster. Already looking forward for the new version of TC.

Yes you can set the colors for comments using the "Define colors by file type" and the tc file content plugin:

It is only 18 easy steps:
  1. In the menu click "Configuration"
  2. Click on "Options..."
  3. Click on "Color" in the list.
  4. Click on the button "Define colors by file type".
  5. Click the "Add" button.
  6. Click the "Define" buton.
  7. Click the "Plugins" tab (at the top).
  8. Mark the box "Search in plugins".
  9. Click on the button under "Property".
  10. Select "Comment".
  11. Click on the buton under "OP".
  12. Select "!="
  13. Click the "Save" button.
  14. Write a name - for example: Comments
  15. Click the "OK" button.
  16. Pick a color.
  17. Click "OK"
  18. Click "OK"

Works fine here - see: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/commentcolors.png

Remember to click the Save button - and all the OK-buttons after selecting the color.

If you have more definitions in Color by file type, make sure >Comments is at the top of the list.

Yea, it's on the top but nothing, i have this definition:

komentatuak_SearchFor=
komentatuak_SearchIn=
komentatuak_SearchText=
komentatuak_SearchFlags=0|002002001020|||||||||0000|||
komentatuak_plugin=tc.comment cont.(case) ""

That is not as I instructed here above.

Try:

Code: Select all

komentatuak_SearchFor=
komentatuak_SearchIn=
komentatuak_SearchText=
komentatuak_SearchFlags=0|002002000020|||||||||0000|||
komentatuak_Plugin=tc.comment != ""
No need to involve RegEx

You can replace tc.comment != "" with:
tc.comment !contains ""
tc.comment !cont.(case) ""
tc.fullname !=(case) ""

it will make no difference - the important thing is that the comment for a file is not empty ("") to be recognized as having a comment.

And make sure the filter is the first in the [Colors] section:

Code: Select all

ColorFilter1=>komentatuak
ColorFilter1Color=xxxxx
