Trying to use "*" in Search.

Post by *totalatha »

I have a lot of folders in my external drive I. I need to find the word "idyllic" (no quotes) in one of the files ending with ".txt"
I am in Drive I and click Search and enter "idyllic" (no quotes) in the first gadget in Total Commander.
I get "I:\" (no quotes) in the second gadget. Then I put, instead, "I:\*.txt" (no quotes). It doesn't work. I do have
the word "idyllic" in one of my .txt files. Please help.
Thank you, totalatha.

"Search in" only accepts paths, not file names or wildcards. You need to use
Search for: *idyllic*.txt
Search in: I:\

From what I understand, it needs to be like this:

Code: Select all

Search for: *.txt
Search in: I:\
Find text: idyllic
The field "Search in" is prefilled automatically when one of the panels shows the correct drive already.
