Missing append button

Post by *Sticky »

Sorry if this is silly, but I seem to have lost the append button. Was this feature removed, or did I inadvertently turn it off?

It used to be that the "append" button would appear with the other overwrite confirmations; however, now all that I show is:
  • overwrite, overwrite all, skip, cancel, overwrite all older, skip all, and rename.
I haven't seen this button since I upgraded from 5.51 to 6.3, nor is it present in 6.5.
(XP pro sp1, US English)

Hope someone can help,
Thanks!

You maybe use a too large system font. TC (actually Delphi) adjusts the size of the dialog accordingly, but this is not always successful. You can check if the button still exists: press the [TAB] key several times, it cycles the keyboard focus on the buttons. If the focus seemingly disappears after the Rename button, then I was right, try to use a smaller system font, if the focus returns immediately to the Overwrite button, I was wrong.
Send a screenshot if you can.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Sticky,
Are you perhaps using the compatibility mode?

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

@fritz
Sorry, you are wrong. ;-)
There's definitely enough room for the button, and tab takes me immediately from rename, to overwrite. Here's a screenie.

@Hacker
I don't know anything about compatability mode. :oops: But I don't think I have it turned on.
All I know is that the same .ini file shows the button in 5.51, but not in 6.3 or 6.5.

Thank you for your help!

Hacker's idea should be right. Check this: Options / Copy/Delete / Use compatibility mode for the following drives
Is there a P in that field?
Or is "Use copy+paste via Explorer (only in case of copy problems)" checked?

Indeed Append isn't possible with the Windows function CopyFileEx used by compatibility mode.

Yes, that is it! Sorry to have bothered everyone, thank you for the help!

Perhaps compatability mode should be mentioned in the help file under append. Anyway, thank you very much!
