Seems as if the Extended Pack is richer then the 6.50..

Post by *Peled »

I dowloded it and from the 1st look, is seems as if the Extended pack is much much richer.
I have to admit, that I did not start to check all new features, and I am sure, the plugins, will add up, and make it better.
Hope some in the forum, will point out , what are the main new features.
Thanks, anyway.

The extended pack is an INOFFICIAL collection of plugins to complicate life with the TC imho.

As a newbie you should stick to the basic Total Commander without any gimmicks to learn the basic file operations first. When you are ready for more because you begin asking yourself how you can do "this and that" it's time to start extending its functionality.

Starting with a Total Commander equipped with several hundred plugins doesn't sound very intelligent to me. I doubt that you will have any chance to understand what's going on... :)

Power users install only the stuff they need when they need it, not before they need it.

So, just install the basic Total Commander from here, check it out and after a while visit http://totalcmd.net to look what plugins and extensions are available. This is how you can make sure that you always have the most recent plugin versions and don't work with obsolete or buggy ones or plugins absolutely useless for you.

@all:
Thanks all for the warm welcome. :)

@SanskritFritz:
Indeed ghisler has nothing to do with it besides having not deleted my account and being the programmer of TC. My prejudices haven't changed at all, don't worry. :twisted:

@djk:
Indeed, I was kind of surprised to see that TC 6.50 really is a nice step forward and at least 1 of 100 supported proposals have been implemented and so I decided to give it a second chance. ;)
Besides that the wonderful ignore button was laughing at me, too, and I am sure that my list will raise soon regarding all those strange neofascists in the izaN-Thread permanently wanting to cry out the name from that funny dwarf from Austria for no reason. 8)

@pdavit:
Nice avatar now, although the kid looks rather evil. :twisted:

Scared I would say but certainly less evil than the action performed in your avatar! ;)

If you would know that bird you wouldn't say that killing it was evil, believe me. ;)

That freaky chick is part of the most annoying ring tone commercial from the currently most hated company "Jamba" on TV in Germany right now and has deserved its death, definetely. :mrgreen:

I am certenly, not a newbe in regard to the TC. Started with it, many years ago.
Years back I forced my company to purces quit a few licences of that great S.W .
I don't know how you can work Windows without it.
Still loking up the 6.50 to get a feeling of the new stuff.

I just thought that you are new to TC because you compared the official release with a monstrous addon pack of questionable use and I thought you wanted to know more about the advantages of that pack, maybe a misunderstanding, sorry. ;)

I would not change my first posting too much although I know now that you are not a newbie. In my opinion these all-in-one packs are useless, it's just the same with codec packs and other packs bundling "all stuff there is" for no reason.
