Issue with running command line with FTP in the name

Post by *thegonz14 »

Hi,

We use TC 6.01 currently at our company and have run into an issue recently I find fairly odd.

We have a batch file call ftpsynch.bat that is located in a directory in our Windows PATH (WIN 2K PRO). When I try to launch this batch file from the TC command line, it launches a windows based FTP client installed.
I then tried to run a few other fake, similarly named commands:

ftpxxx
ftpeee

They all do the same thing - open the Windows based client FTP.

I then just tried running ftp by itself from the command line in TC and it opened the ftp command in DOS as I expected.

Finally, I tried a command without the 'ftp' as part of the name in front and it gives me command not found - for instance:

ftxxxx
fteeee

Anyway, it all seems to be tied into the first 3 letters starting with 'ftp'. I would rather not rename the batch file and this seems like an error anyway.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It's known error by Windows - same behaviour if you type such strings in "Run" window. AFAIR there is no handy workaround for that - instead of renaming.

Well - that is MS for you...one of those undocumented "features"

Thanks for the help!
