A thumbnail/custom column suggestion and a "bug"

Post by *pdavit »

It would be nice if we could get a thumbnail view on a custom column list which can give us more sorting options
over the items being displayed by using the tabstop headers (that is for pic related fields only I guess).

About the "bug". If you switch from a custom column to the thumbnail view deactivating the thumbnail you will
not turn you back to the custom column mode but to full mode. I cannot remember if this is intentional or not.

IIRC it is by design...

My opinion, that it would be better to get back to whatever view mode you had before.
  • It works if you were in Brief. Switching on and off Thumbnail mode brings you back in Brief.
  • For Custom view it works to switch to Quick view (from the other panel) and then switch Quick view off. You get back to your Custom view.
What do you think? What is the main reason?
BTW, Comments view behaves in the same way as Thumbnail.

Exactly! That wasn't working during the beta testing period which was corrected. Apparently the thumbnails/custom-columns behaviour was forgotten.

You are kidding, right?

Maybe it's not a good idea to mix public and non public discussions? What do you think?

Panos, Claude,
I am sure you can fill in the address of the Beta Forum by yourselves.

Nop! Claude can confirm this! ;)

I'll let Hacker answer that, I didn't post the link! :)

I'm sure I can but if it doesn't work even following validation that is beyond my power! ;)

What was the thread's title, BTW?

Well, you started a discussion here, even though it was started in the beta forum a long time ago.
I'm sure I can but if it doesn't work even following validation that is beyond my power!
I just checked it and it works. Don't forget to remove the period at the end.
What was the thread's title, BTW?
Toggle of thumbnail view always results in full view

!!!

So, in other words a request made in the beta forum (and from someone else other
than me) is prohibited in the public forum?

I'm trying here to gather up users' feedback on this behaviour. We had 15 active
beta testers but we have 100s or 1000s of users visiting this place and using
this software.

I'm trying to satisfy the 1000s not the 15!

Always friendly,
Panos

I just ment that's not a good idea to start a discussion by referring to the betatest.
IMHO the best way is to start a whole new discussion.

Which I did. If you read my first post there is no hint of beta elements in it.
