If I read Kevin's first post again, I'm not sure he meant about the file name..., but I think that was an inspired guess from me, since I found a problem that sounds at least similar.
  • First of all it happens with file names containing Chinese/Japanese characters (I guess, because they are multibyte)
  • It seems TC doesn't detect correctly when the filename is truncated
  • If name column made small enough -> TC will display the name in the tool tip (upper part of screenshot)
  • Filename still truncated, but not enough -> tooltip doesn't display filename (lower part)

Well, your English is OK
Thanks. On the whole, reading is no problem, but writing ...

No, you're not. :D I'm not this thing.

Probably the first is not a bug too. 'it's a known limitation or should I say a feature not yet implemented.' Just as Clo said above.

Look at this: http://img123.exs.cx/img123/7506/10mx.jpg

TC can display tooltip when file name is truncated.(upper part of screenshot)
But it can't when custom column's content is truncated.(lower part)

I don't know if 'content', the word is seemly.

Imageshack is very good.

szlori's screen-shot seems a bug.

Oh, I see. In English it clearly says in Configuration->Display "Show filename in file list as tooltip if truncated".
So this is only for the filename.
But your idea is good for a request!

Other small bug? Or am I wanting too much again?
If you also have "Win32-style tips with file comments (if available)" turned on, then TC will also display the filename in the tooltip if truncated in the file list.
However, it only does so if you hover your mouse pointer over the filename.
If you do hover it over another column it does not.

I try the option, "Win32-style tips with file comments (if available)" . It's very good.

I have just found it can show more information besides filename.

But why don't folder show win32-style tips?

For instance, it's empty or not. Subdirectory and file count of a directory ...

Try the DirSizeCalc plugin.
