TCMENU

Post by *RICKVIVENTI »

DEAR TC FRIENDS,
I WOULD LIKE TO USE TCMENU TO OPERATE A DROP DOWN MENU ON THE BUTTON BAR.
I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS I COULD FIND, BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK.
THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT COME WITH THE PLUGIN ARE MINIMAL, AND THE EXAMPLE GIVEN ( I.E. NOTEPAD) DOES NOT WORK EITHER.
CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME A GOOD EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW, ALONG WITH SOME TIPS ON ISSUES TO AVOID.

THANKS FOR THE EXPECTED COMEBACK.

Hi Rick,
"in principle" the setup for TCMenu is simple. First create a new buttonbar in TC (Configuration/Buttonbar - click on the arrows right of the current button bar name and choose a new name for the button bar).

Assume the new button bar is named "OpenWith.bar". At first it contains no buttons at all, of course. Now create in this bar all the buttons that you want to appear in the later TC Menu, e.g. a button for notepad, another for wordpad etc. Now switch back to the default buttton bar and create a new button, e.g. named "Open With..."

Now follows the most important step: give the new button the following properties:

Command: D:\Tools\Wincmd\Tools\TCmenu.exe
Parameters: D:\Tools\Wincmd\OpenWith.BAR -L %L -$
(Of course you have to adapt the paths)

Thats all! Now, if you click on the button "Open With.." a drop-down menu appears that shows all the entries of your OpenWith.bar.

The -$ parameter is optional, it leads to small icons in the drop-down menu, otherwise the icons are large.

Hope it helps!

BTW: please do not give your email adress here explicetely. Just give it in your profile so that every registered user can send you email. Edit your post!
Grüße/Regards,
Wilhelm

Dear Wilhelm,

Thanks for the quick reply. I wish all forums worked this well.
I will try your suggestions, which look as if they will work, and repost if I have any more problems.

Yours Truly
