[Bug] Search > Feed to listbox and Alt+F3 disfunctionalit

Post by *ford prefect »

Hello,

Amazing things happening. Check this out in TC 6.51

1. Configure an external Editor\Viewer for Alt+F3 (e.g. Ultraedit)
2. Perform a Search (Alt+F7) for some files. It is not important what kind, can be *.txt for example
3. After the search finishes press the "Feed to Listbox" button
4. In the Results Listbox panel which shows the found files press Alt+F3

Result:
Well, the path passed to the external viewer/editor in the panel which shows search results is messed up :(

i.e.
If the file is originaly located at path:
c:\dir1\dir2\file.txt

The path in the Results Listbox (panel) given to the external viewer will be instead:
c:\dir1\dir2\dir1\dir2\file.txt

so the external viewer won't find the file!
Interesting is that the results in the panel are shown with correct paths.

Since I do not update that often I can only recall that this did not occur in TC 6.03a

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Confirmed for WinXP Sp1, TC 6.51, too.

After having done some tests, the error seems to follow this rule:
+ drop the drive letter of the directory where the search started
(had to change this, was: drive letter and parent directory of the directory where the search started)
+ prefix the drive letter and the current directory of the opposite panel.

e.g:
+ current directory: e:\zips
+ opposite panel: c:\programme
+ search pattern: *.pdf (entered after pressing alt+f7 in e:\zips)
+ feed to listbox
+ press alt+f3 on any file in the listbox, in this example: e:\zips\subdir\i_am_a.pdf
+ the path which is given to the external viewer will be c:\programme\zips\subdir\i_am_a.pdf

Weird.

P.S.:
I edited my post to make my example clearer and to make the assumed rule match the example.
Note: the example was correct, but the rule I gave did not match my example (see above).

Very strange, thanks for your report. I will correct it in the next update.
