search functions

Post by *chudq »

I would like to have the following 2 search functions in TCMD. Is there any way to achieve them?

1. In file list, if I quickly type a file's name such as "win", TCMD does not move the cursor to the file with "win" name. Instead, what I typed are in the bottom text box. I have to scroll the list to the I what to search for. IE does support this search function.

2. Search for something like "obj\debug\*.obj". The string may contain a path as a part to be searched. All the search functions I found so far in all the file management tools either search for a file name with a pattern or a content string in files. TCMD's search result does list a list of files with full paths. However, I could not find a way to get files with part of of full path where part of path with file name or just part of path to be searched.

Hold Ctrl-Alt and then start typing "win". Or configure another behavior in Configuration - Options - Operation - Quick search.

2. Alt-F7 - Plugins - Search in Plugins
tc - path - contains - obj\debug

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Thanks for the reply. I got the first one. It works and actually better than IE. However, I don't get the second one:

2. Alt-F7 - Plugins - Search in Plugins
tc - path - contains - obj\debug

By Alt-F7, a search dialog window is opened. There are 3 tabs (General, Advanced, and Load/Save). I could not find Plugins and Search in Plugins. Do you mean I have to get the plugin to add the search function I need?

Simply update your TC to the latest one and you will have the "plugin tab" in the search dialog (it was introduced in v 6.5)
