Synchronize Dirs suggestion

Post by *goran »

Hi,

I am note sure if this is the right place for suggestion but I'll try. I am a happy user of TC (WC) for many years and I am more than happy with it. Recently I got an idea for an improvemnet that is an absolute must :wink: . Well, at least I 'd like it to see and I think there it is not much work to implemnt it.

In Synchronize window I' d like to see two new right-click menu items, Pack Right and Pack Left. As the name suggests the action should be to pack files from coresponding list into a single zip file thus creating pre-synchonize backup.

Having Copy Right To... and Copy Left To... would be nice too. And right now it just crosses my mind - perhaps it would be just enogh to add "Feed [Right,Left] to listbox" action. Than TC can handle packing and copying and even more...

Interesting idea indeed. You can actually synchronize to zip files (even when comparing two dirs) simply by putting zip: in front of the target name. But you can't copy or zip within the compare list, sorry.

An additional feature

Post by *jfaust64chess »

I have found that there are times when I need to compare the files in two sub-folders that are in the same folder. I.E. folder "A" has folders "1" and "2" inside it and I need to check if they are the same (and their sub-folders). If I select "1" in the right pane and "2" in the left pane, I get the message "Warning: The left and right side show the same directory!". The only way to do this now is to move one of the folders out of "A". Is there a way that the comparison can be allowed in the future? Thank you

@jfaust64chess:
If you compare two different directories there is no warning. If you want to compare two directories you have to ENTER the directories, not select them. In your example you compare A with A, not 1 with 2.

Anyway, if you compare the same directories you get a warning but nevertheless the comparison is done when you press OK, at least if you are using the latest version of TC so make sure that you are up-to-date.

is it possible to add an option in wincmd.ini to set the
Confirm overwrites option in Syncronize?
