Post by *Andre Linoge »

Good afternoon,

After an new format C:\ and installation of the origional software, i experienced problems with TC refusing to start, aswell with some other progams; after an new installation, TC works again, however everytime i start my PC, i have to do an re-install of the software.

Does anybody has an idea how to solve this problem??

TIA

hi Andre,
What does it mean refuses? Is there any error message?
It don't looks like problem of TC. Since you wrote you reinstalled whole PC, I expect there are no viruses or somethig like that.....hm...try to go to www.sysinternals.com, download FileMonitor and try to investigate, which file is missing . You can also try to download from that page ProcessExplorer - it will tell you if it really started or not - maybe TC just want to read some drive that it cannot....

TC simply wont start up, there no errormessages what so ever. The problem begin after i used IExplorer, after this other programs refuses to start as well.

BTW handy tools on sysinternals.

Do you mean Internet Explorer or what program are you talking about?

Check your system with Spybot S&D and Kaspersky 5.0

Either malware infection or defective hardware.

sure handy..that's why I recommend them. :-)

So....when you use FileMonitor...do you see what file cannot be loaded? It should list all accessed files also with status if that access was successful or not.... is there at least TOTALCMD.EXE?

This sounds like some kind of virus infection damaging the TC executable after each run. Better scan your PC as soon as possible (if possible by starting from a clean CD).

:) Hello !
- In addition, you could scan with a DOS-AV too, because some “clever” viruses know to avoid the detection by the Win-AVs !
- We had a similar case here a while ago…
- For instance, you could try F-Prot for DOS free of charge for personal use. It allowed to solve the similar problem alright…
- This is related in the English Tutorial >> FAQ >> “Also from the Forum”… Link in my signature below.
