LiteStep replaces explorer.exe so what you see there as the desktop is your new LiteStep shell.
You cannot "install Total Commander as the desktop" because Total Commander has no shell replacement functions, that's the reason why I have recommended LiteStep actually.
If you want to use TC permanently just start it, maximize it and use it.

In fact, quite some time ago (on a PC that had Win98) for a certain period of time I actually used TC as my shell instead of explorer. Did all I needed to doicfu wrote:LiteStep replaces explorer.exe so what you see there as the desktop is your new LiteStep shell.

I thought everybody here used TC permanently, so I'm surprised.
I never activate Exploder. The first thing after boot is starting TC, always maximized and it stays there until the end of the session. So actually TC can be called my 'desktop', a central point for access to files and (nearly) all applications.
So my Win-screen after boot is rather empty : the TC-button is one of five, 3 of them being MS.
Since I don't like these MS office-analogies like 'desktop', I refer to my TC as the 'workshop'.

We're talking about exploder the shell, not the file manager. Of course we don't fire up exploder file managerSam Zen wrote:I thought everybody here used TC permanently, so I'm surprised.
