Hi,
I'm new to Total Commander. I've installed TC for CE on my Jornada 720 HPC, and TC v. 6.53 (shareware version) on Win98 machine.
I can't get the two units will not talk to each other through the USB connection with Active Sync on or off. Is there a way to do this?
I have not tried to connect via IR.
Thanks, Dave
How do you sync an HPC to PC with Total Commander?

Hello, Dave.
On your Win98 machine, you will need to install a Total Commander filesystem plugin for WINCE devices.
You can get it here https://plugins.ghisler.com/fsplugins/wincefs.zip.
It has been created by Christian Ghisler and here his very brief explanation:
You can access your PDA filesystem from your Win98 machine using TC.
It works properly for my Dell Axim connected through USB to my WinXP machine, so hopefully, it supports Jornadas as well.
Regards,
Karl

Accessing your Win98 machine from your PDA is quite a different story.

So, ActiveSync has got to be installed and the WINCE plugin has got to be loaded. Then inside TC's Network Neighborhood (\\) you will see a WinCE Device.Access PocketPC and other Windows CE devices via ActiveSync direclty in Total Commander! Source available. Requires installed ActiveSync, otherwise it cannot be installed!

It works.
Karl,
The CE plugin works well with my Jornada 720. Thanks!
There is no need to access the Win98 machine from the WinCE device, since Total Commander allows transfers in either direction.
Now, I wonder if there is a "portable" version of Total Commander that could be run from a USB drive. This might facilitate use of the WinCE device when my primary machine is not available.
Thanks again,
Dave

Re: It works.
Please use the TC Help for this as TC is able to be run from an USBDriveDave Wurm wrote:Now, I wonder if there is a "portable" version of Total Commander that could be run from a USB drive.
without Problems.
All you have to do is use %Commander_Path% in the files wincmd.ini, *.bar, wcx_ftp.ini and all other inis you have and write into wincmd.ini under
[configuration] UseIniInProgramDir=7. HTH
