[BUG] Shift-Tab in Search dialog
Moderators: Hacker, petermad, Stefan2, white
I also remember about it:
There were 2 things involved:
1. This only happens before searching (so the window with result list is hidden). If you have a result list already, the it doesn't stop.
2. Some people argued that is the hidden list responsible for the fact that Shift+TAB stops on General, but they said it is better like this.
I remember no firm commitment about looking into changing this "feature".
I am for making it roll over in both cases, it feels more consistent.

Find files dialog - Tab key navigation
Hi,
When I'm using the Find text function of the File search dialog, I usually use the Tab key to advance to the Find text checkbox.
However, when I press one more Tab, it selects the title (or what is it called in english) of the General tab.
Which is fine, one can press Tab a few more times to get back to the checkbox, but is it possible to implement a Shift+Tab backwards navigation feature?
Thanks in advance!

Also when you tab so many times that the "General" Tab gets focused? - not here. Shift+Tab only works while focus is inside the dialog.

Re: Find files dialog - Tab key navigation
Petermad,
My observation is a tad different:
I can walk through the "General" back and forth with no problem - on condition the Find Text checkbox is clear.
Get stuck walking back when the Find Text checkbox is ticked though.
Hope it helps,
mmm

That makes no difference for me.mmm wrote: 2022-08-19, 08:28 UTC Get stuck walking back when the Find Text checkbox is ticked though.
I can still tab forward and backward.

A side note...
Do you notice the underlined charaters?
Just press Alt+t together (for english language) to focus the Find text checkbox.
"Shift+Tab backwards navigation" works for me too.
Also CTRL+Tab to switch through the single tabs. (also Shift+CTRL+Tab works)
Re: Find files dialog - Tab key navigation
Anyone stuck on "General" upon TC launch prior to first search?
Re: Find files dialog - Tab key navigation
Confirmed. You can hold down the Tab key and repeatedly cycle through all options, but not with Shift+tab.petermad wrote: 2022-08-18, 20:12 UTC Also when you tab so many times that the "General" Tab gets focused? - not here. Shift+Tab only works while focus is inside the dialog.
Re: Find files dialog - Tab key navigation
Damn! I totally forgot about the Alt+ shortcuts (I practically never use them)! Thanks!Stefan2 wrote: 2022-08-19, 08:56 UTC A side note...

Although. Try to use Ctrl+Tab to move around the tabs, then try to use Shift+Tab to cycle backwards.
Doesn't work. You can only cycle backwards until you reach (select) the tabs. (as petermand and white wrote)

Similar (same?) here with 10.51rc2 x32 dark @ Win10x64:
As long as "Find text" is not ticked or was not ticked since opening the dialog, Tab and S+Tab work as expected (also cyclically).
Once "Find text" is ticked or was ticked (i.e., is deactivated again), Tab still works (also cyclically) but S+Tab will only go back until "Search for".
If I hit S+Tab in "Search for", the focus disappears entirely and will only come back if I hit Tab again.
