[OT] Good PIM software recommendations...?
Hi, all
Can someone recommend a good PIM (personal information manager) software please? Which one are you current using or think it's worth trying?
Freeware is more welcome.
Thanks.

To Moderators:
Why move this thread from "Total Commander (English)" section to here?
If I remember correctly most off-topic threads are talking in TC english section. For example:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=4663&highlight=download
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=7436&highlight=download
No offence, just confused...

Also, look here: http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/misctools/fwpim.html

Although it does not contain a management of contacts but "only" calendar, scheduler and todo-functions (see for yourself at the URL) I like UK calendar (http://www.8ung.at/ukrebs/). It appears to be more stable and reliable than EssentialPIM and does not tend to become crippleware. What I also like about it: it is able to run from a USB-stick (you need a special version of EPIM which is then very able, too, I have to add!).
Anyway, AFAIK it is free of necessities which IMHO restrict EPIM which is based on the fact that IE somewhat has to be installed; who knows if it will be compatible to the next IE ...

Perhaps you could be also interested in Chaos Manager (freeware).

My pleasure. I 've stood benefit from many of your pieces of advice as well as information that I'm especially glad to hear that from you.
2CoMike: I'ver tried Chaos Manager as well. It certainly has more features than UK-calendar, however aside from its simplistic approach of appointment handling it lacks 2 two things: one is the multi-language ability the other the nice feature of (colourful) demarkation of appointments, weekdays etc. within the calendar itself (just like I'd do it on a wall calendar). On the other hand it is small, skinable(!) and versatile. In any case worthwhile to test!
2Raymond: I emailed with UK just a couple of days ago and everything worked fine; took him a few days (2 or 3?) to answer but anyhow. Well, AFAIK his provider occasionally suffers from malfunctions to breakdowns. I'd suggest you try it again if you're interested enough.

Same here, I haven't yet found a PIM that fits my needs.Raymond wrote:I've tried Chaos Manager. Its interface is cool but too simple for me.
I would need a better note-taking feature for my job. I mean, a kind of categorized knowledge base. I haven't found it, and I've been thinking to write something by myself, who knows...B@rndh wrote:I'ver tried Chaos Manager as well. I like the slim ChaosManager interface, but it's not enough.
Thanks anyway for the link.
